I adore working at the beautiful Ritz-Carlton Laguna Niguel in Dana Point, but shooting this winter wedding was especially wonderful, as I’d photographed the groom’s sister’s weddings many years ago. One of the things that struck me about this sweet couple is how attentive the groom was to his bride at their engagement shoot. He was kind of like John Cusack in Say Anything, kicking glass out of the way for Ione Skye to walk around. His focus was completely on her happiness and comfort, and I truly left feeling that these two were meant for one another. This couple chose to have a winter wedding on the Pacific Promenade Lawn with a luncheon reception following in the Pacific Promenade Ballroom. This meant we had time to get down to the water just before sunset, which was awesome, especially since the storm the night before had created truly magnificent clouds in the sky. Using off-camera lighting, I had the bride spin around and around until she almost fell over from being dizzy. The end result was one of their favorite images from their Ritz Laguna wedding.
