I’m On the Cover of Popular Photography Magazine

If you happen to be close to a newsstand this month, be sure to pick up a copy of the October 2011 issue of Popular Photography magazine. I’m delighted to be featured — in a one-inch square — on the cover of this month’s issue, and in a feature article on pages 24-25. The article focuses on my work with destination weddings, Indian weddings and multicultural weddings. My lovely bride Nikki Chawla, who was married in June, graciously agreed to be photographed with me for the magazine’s monthly “I, Photographer” feature. The “I, Photographer” feature focuses on people who work in different photographic fields. Previous features have included a CSI photographer, location scout photographer, food photographer, aerial aircraft-in-flight photographer, museum art photographer and boudoir photographer. I know who’s being featured next month as well, as I was tapped to shoot the photo of that photographer. But for now, that will remain as secret, as will the super-cool place I got to shoot the image.

I had no idea I’d made a one-inch square appearance on the cover until I went to pick up the magazine. As I began to jump up and down in a failed effort at containing my happy shock, the guy at the newsstand clearly thought I was crazy. The image was shot by the wonderful Yoshi Morimoto, whom many of you know as an outstanding photographer who works with me when he’s not otherwise booked. A huge thank you to Yoshi for his incredible creativity, talent and friendship. And a huge thank you to Kathleen Davis, the very talented and delightful writer who who contacted me out of the blue to be showcased in an “I, Photographer” feature. I’m truly honored.

I have soooo many events to blog that I don’t even know where to start. But I also have client deadlines that beckon nearly every waking hour, so I’m behind on the blogging, as usual. This morning’s fun? My cute client Shayla, who came by to pick up her albums, and burst out crying with joy when she saw the gorgeous photo-acrylic-metallic cover. She was so adorable that I had to get out the camera and snap a few photos of her crying. I so rarely get to see a bride’s first reaction to her album, so it was really a lovely thing to witness. (I heart you, Miss Shayla.) I will get back to some proper blogging soon, but first, I’ll be shooting a wedding in Cartagena, Colombia, this weekend. I leave Friday and return Tuesday, so it’ll be a very quick trip. I hope you all have a wonderful weekend.

Just Saying Hi

Well, of course, there’s nothing better than Jury Duty in the middle of wedding season, which is of course what I’m dealing with this week. I realize that I am just hopelessly behind on my blog, but I have so many beautiful weddings and engagement shoots that I want to post. The new issue of South Asian Bride Magazine is finally out, and congratulations to my two beautiful couples — Cinal & Taju and Suki & Andy — for having their weddings featured. I’m also excited that I’ll featured in the next issue of Professional Photographer Magazine, as well as in the September issue of PhotoWorld, out of Istanbul, Turkey. But without visuals, I realize that all this fun news lays a bit flat. I hope to post all this fun press soon. In the meantime, I truly apologize for being so behind on my blog. As I always say, client work comes first, but I have so many jobs to post that I honestly can’t wait. My optimistic self hopes to get some sneak peeks posted very soon. I hope you are all having a wonderful summer, and if you’re in So Cal, that you’re enjoying the mildest August we’ve ever had. I’ve never been chilly in August before, so it’s been really fun to have such a nice break in our usual summer heat.

Cartagena is just as charming, hot and humid as I remember. Lizzette and Shad’s wedding was so much fun, and I got them to jump into the pool in wedding dress and tux after our day-after session. Heading home early Tuesday, and hope to have Part 3 of Cinal and Taju’s wedding blogged soon. Can’t wait until Durgha’s wedding this weekend. She is going to be such a lovely bride. Tomorrow is airport and in-the-sky day (routing through Miami), so wish me luck.

Hi, everyone!!! As usual, I’m at least 10 weddings behind on the blog, but have three new posts just about ready to go. So be sure to look for Amy & Kanishka at the Ritz-Carlton Marina del Rey, Aarthi & Vijay at the Four Seasons Westlake Village, and Christina & Anjun at the SLS Hotel a bit later today. I have great plans to get the blog back up to date over the next few weeks, so let’s see if I can actually do it. Hope you’re all having a great day. Back From the Philippines

Hi, everyone! I got back from the Philippines on the 25th and immediately had three shoots, but I’m finally getting caught up on my emails and phone messages. Many apologies to anyone who had a delay in response. The medical mission went wonderfully, with the doctors/dentists providing surgeries and medical/dental care to 7,000+ people over the course of five days. It’ll take me a while to get through all the images, but I hope to post some soon. In the meantime, I thought you all might these photos of tarsiers, one of the world’s smallest primates. They are smaller than your hand, and have the funniest little marble-shaped eyes. You can read more about these cute little creates in the Wiki entry here. I’m kind of wondering if these creatures were part of the inspiration for Yoda. More blog posts coming soon.

Harlyn & Seenu in Rivaaj Magazine

You may remember Harlyn and Seenu’s five-day wedding from a blog post earlier this year. Their beautiful wedding included a Sikh ceremony and a South Indian ceremony at the Beverly Hilton Hotel, and a glamorous reception at the Beverly Hills Hotel. With decor, design and coordination by the talented Nikki Khan at Exquisite Events and florals by Linnae and Jonathan at Asiel Design, this wedding was just stunning from start to finish. I’m just thrilled that it’s featured in the fall issue of Rivaaj magazine. Be sure to click on the couple’s names at the start of this paragraph to see more of their beautiful decor.
