Mona and Sanjay were married in a beautiful outdoor ceremony at the Ritz-Carlton Laguna Niguel. And how did this cute couple meet? Hmmmm, let’s see. It seems that Sanjay just couldn’t find the girl of his dreams. He knew she was out there, but she remained elusive. Enter the magical land of Facebook, where Sanjay was struck by a photo of a girl in the friends section of another friend. Intrigued, Sanjay sent her a note, making up a story about how he used to know a girl in school by the same name. Mona of course ignored him, so Sanjay had to ask his friend to make the introduction. The rest is history, and a fun story that even their children will likely appreciate. (Unless, of course, Facebook goes the way of vinyl records and cassette tapes.)
The blue of the ocean provided a gorgeous backdrop to the colorful mandap, which was draped with fabrics and flowers in tangerines and pinks. Mona wore a stunning lengha, while her bridesmaids wore a beautiful array of different saris that fit the color palette perfectly. And speaking of Mona’s lengha . . . the photos of her ironing her own lengha are absolute faves of mine. I love that she just jumped right in to make sure those wrinkles came out before she walked down the aisle. After the ceremony, guests enjoyed a cocktail party under hanging sparkle lights before heading into the ballroom, which was decorated like a beautiful enchanted forest. The cascading greenery added a sense of lushness to the party, and the chocolate-colored dance floor — complete with gold monogram and swirlies — gave the entire room a rich and elegant feel.
