The dramatic beauty of Vasquez Rocks serves as a gorgeous photography location for engagement sessions and pre-wedding shoots in Los Angeles. Located 50 miles north of my Beverly Hills studio, this breathtaking desert location offers endless landscapes and rock formations, along with stunning palettes of light. The colors in the rocks seem very pale to the eye, but can be made to look very rich and colorful in post-production. Stylish and colorful wardrobe helps create beautiful images, and for this location, I recommend that clothing contrast with the landscape. I thus suggest that clothing too close in color to the rocks be avoided (taupe, beige, gold, etc.). Use of expert lighting setups helps ensure that this location can be used to best effect, which is why I recommend that photographers always work with an experienced assistant at Vasquez Rocks. This location can also be quite busy on weekends, when other photographers or filmmakers may also be using this location, so we recommend shooting on a weekday.
