Smog Shoppe Wedding Photographer
When a bride plans an outdoor wedding, the last thing she wants to think about is rain. But when you have a winter wedding, the risk is always there. We don't actually have much rain in Southern California, so our winters can be very dry. That's why it was such a surprise when this wedding day was doused by nine inches of rain in one day. It was the greatest single day's rainfall in years. It may have even set a record. But the sad part was that the ceremony part of the venue was outside. The tent collapsed several times under the weight of the water, which kept pooling on the plastic. And the pre-ceremony cocktail party had to be scrapped entirely, as the adjacent outdoor cocktails area was flooded. Mercifully, the rain stopped long enough for the ceremony to take place in just a slight drizzle. The only people who got wet during the ceremony were me and my second photographer. I actually captured this beautiful portrait during the day-after session that I did for this couple. The regal body language of the bride provides a beautiful complement to the more casual pose of the groom. Photographed at the Smog Shoppe, Los Angeles.
